Link Preview & SEO Meta Tags Checker is a Chrome extension that reads metadata from the active page when the user opens the popup. This policy explains what data the extension processes and how it is used.

Data the extension processes

• The active tab URL and page title
• Open Graph and Twitter Card metadata on the active page
• Meta description, canonical URL, favicon, and heading structure
• Preview image URL, image dimensions, and file size when available
• Presence and contents needed to check the site's llms.txt file

Anonymous usage analytics

The extension collects anonymized usage analytics to understand how features are used and to improve the product. Analytics data is sent to our own telemetry service at tele.iamsimpl.com and is not shared with any third party.

What is collected:

• Anonymous user ID (a random UUID stored locally, not linked to your identity)
• Session ID (new random UUID each time the popup is opened)
• Hostname (domain only) of the inspected page
• A SHA-256 hash of the full page URL (for deduplication; the actual URL cannot be recovered from the hash)
• UI interactions: tab switches, button clicks, feature usage
• Metadata availability flags (e.g. whether OG tags are present)
• Browser name, OS, screen size, language, and color theme
• Extension version

What is never collected:

• Full page URLs (only hostname and a one-way hash)
• Page content, cookies, browsing history, or form data
• Personal information such as names, emails, or account IDs

How data is stored

Inspected page metadata is not stored persistently. It is read when the popup is opened and displayed for the current session only.

The anonymous user ID is stored in chrome.storage.local so that usage analytics can be aggregated across sessions. It is a random UUID and is not linked to your identity.

How data is used and shared

Page metadata is used only to render the link preview, SEO diagnostics, heading analysis, image size checks, and llms.txt verification. The extension may request the preview image URL or llms.txt URL from the inspected site to verify availability.

Analytics data is sent exclusively to our own server (tele.iamsimpl.com) and is used solely to improve the extension. It is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

Permissions

• activeTab and scripting — to read metadata from the active page when the user opens the popup
• storage — to persist the anonymous user ID for usage analytics
• host_permissions for *.iamsimpl.com — to send anonymous analytics to our own telemetry service

No sale or advertising use

The extension does not sell personal data, does not use data for advertising, and does not share data with third-party analytics or tracking providers.
